The McGhee Foundation Annual Benefit

Guests dine at the 2nd Annual Benefit GalaAs with nearly all historic sites, the costs of restoration, programming, maintenance, and general operating expenses can easily outstrip income from endowments or stocks. The Foundation must, therefore, seek funding from a variety of sources that will support operational expansion and capital restoration and improvements.

To this end, The McGhee Foundation holds an annual benefit to raise funds not only for these expenses, but also for its educational programming and its support of area schools. In the past the Foundation has partnered with the Wentworth Gallery and Middleburg-area merchants to provide items for auction. For the 2008 annual benefit, The McGhee Foundation focused on local produce and goods for its dinner menu; this practice will continue for all future benefits.
